Changes to train times

Find out if engineering work or timetable alterations will impact your travel plans

Engineering work

Engineering work is an essential part of maintaining and upgrading our rail network. Here you'll find all the planned engineering work scheduled to impact LNER services over the next 12 weeks.

Sometimes we may need to make additional short notice changes and recommend you still check your journey as close as possible to your date of travel.

If we do change things after you have bought a ticket, you can either use any reasonable alternative LNER service, or claim a full refund.

Major engineering work between Darlington and York from Saturday 2 to Monday 4 May

Major works are taking over the May Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday 2, Sunday 3 and Monday 4 May) between Darlington and York. While work takes place, Southbound LNER services from Scotland and Newcastle will terminate at Darlington or Northallerton, while Northbound services from London King’s Cross which would normally continue to Newcastle or Scotland will terminate at York. Other operators will also be running amended timetables on these dates.

Rail replacement coaches will be in operation to help you travel. However, journey times will be extended and services on other parts of our route, including trains to and from Leeds, will be running to amended timetables. We recommend allowing extra time and checking your full journey before you travel.
