Ready to plan your fang-tastic family-friendly spooky adventure? Let’s dive into the best cities in the UK!

To rank the spookiest cities in the UK, we focused on three key factors: the number of ghost sightings, the number of haunted hotels and the yearly average of searches for Halloween related terms. We gathered data from Paul Lee’s Ghost Database for ghost sightings and Haunted Hotels and utilised Google Keyword Planner for spooky searches.

Using the top 90 most populated cities in the UK as our seed list, we calculated a Spooky Score for each city by weighting each metric against the city’s population. This approach ensures that larger cities do not dominate the rankings.

The final Spooky Scores were then combined to determine our list of the spookiest cities, showcasing those with rich ghostly histories and eerie atmospheres relative to their size.
