Need inspiration? What to see

You can’t miss the imposing sight of Skipton castle perched at the top of the High Street. A visit to this fantastically well-preserved fortification is a must. You’ll also find a traditional sweet shop nearby, alongside some of the oldest buildings in the town at Chapel Hill.

History buffs will love the Craven Museum and Gallery with its impressive displays on social history, archaeology and even costumes. Meanwhile, families and animal-lovers can get hands-on farm experience at Thornton Hall Country Park, where you can feed the animals and ride quad bikes on the farm.

Hidden Skipton

Skipton is blessed with atmospheric architectural features, such as the beautiful Bolton Abbey ruins and the fragrant Parcevall Hall Gardens, paired with the buzz of a modern town. Take a wander down the many alleyways or ‘ginnels’ to soak up the atmosphere and discover quaint little boutiques and cafes.

Retail therapy

Stop off at Craven Court Shopping Centre for some retail therapy. Created from a 16th century theatre, the original stone walls add a traditional atmosphere to a modern shopping experience. Thanet’s Yard also offers a wide choice of independent shops of all types from antiques to a traditional mill shop.
