There are 4 Edinburgh Christmas Market locations spread around the city centre, each with a different theme:

East Princes Street Gardens Christmas Market

Your gateway to all things festive, East Princes Street Gardens is home to:

  • Edinburgh’s traditional Christmas market, with 70 stalls offering up the very best handmade gifts, delicious drinks, and tasty treats.
  • The 46-metre tall Forth 1 Big Wheel – the largest ferris wheel in Scotland!
  • Other rides at the Edinburgh Christmas Market include the Santa Train, Starflyer, and helter skelter.

 

West Princes Street Gardens Family Funfair

Fun for the whole family, including:

  • An illuminated path walk, including a nativity scene, the Gardeners’ Cottage, and Christmas-themed photo.
  • Other events include live concerts, ceilidh, silent discos, a carols concert, and the Diwali Festival of Light.
  • Plenty of food and drink options to keep you going, plus warming zones for a hot chocolate (or two!)

 

St Andrew Square Winter Garden

Here’s where you’ll find Santa and his helpers, including:

  • Santa’s Stories - a 20-minute storytelling experience that teaches the importance of giving, including an opportunity to meet Santa before receiving a gift.
  • A letter-writing station and post where children can send their Christmas list to the North Pole
  • The 10-metre tall Kindness Tree, with a gift donation point that will help provide thousands of Christmas dinners, food packs and gifts to homeless and vulnerable families.

 

George Street West & Castle Street

  • The undercover ice rink, with Edinburgh residents receiving a 25% discount should you be meeting up with some local friends.
  • The Ethical & Scottish Christmas Fair where all of the locally-made sustainable goods are ethically sourced.
  • Even more fairground rides, warming zones, and local gifts and produce to stock up on before heading home!

Edinburgh’s Christmas Market is open from Friday 15 November 2024 to Saturday 04 January 2025.

 

Do I need to buy Edinburgh Christmas Market tickets before travelling?

Entry into Edinburgh's Christmas sites is free, but you may have to pay for additional rides and attractions, either by pre-booking tickets or purchasing on the day.

Please note that each site is cashless, and so will be taking card payments only.
